Lead generation, and the line we do not cross
Most products in this category are databases of people. We are not one, and we are not going to become one. What we sell is an HTTP fetch of public pages whose URLs you already have — which covers a real, narrower slice of prospecting work.
What we do not offer
We are not a contact database. No names, no job titles, no email addresses, no phone numbers, no intent scores, no CRM enrichment feed and no list of any kind. We do not fetch anything from behind a login, a paywall or an access control — our terms forbid it. We also cannot return search engine results, so we are no help with discovering companies through a search query. If you want a prospect list you can buy, buy it from a data vendor; this is not that.
What the category usually means, and what this is instead
An earlier version of this page advertised hundreds of millions of verified contacts, buyer intent signals and two-way CRM sync. None of that existed. We have no contact database, no panel producing intent data and no enrichment product, so the honest overlap between prospecting and a rotating fetch API is narrower than the old page implied and worth naming exactly.
The overlap is this: a company's public web presence says a great deal about the company, it is published deliberately for people to read, and reading it at any volume from a single address gets you rate-limited. We handle the address and the volume.
Public business information is a real category
Information about an organisation is not the same thing as information about a person, and the distinction is the whole point of this page. Firmographic and technographic signal about a company sits in public pages you can simply fetch.
What a company sells
Product pages, published pricing, plan tiers, and which integrations it advertises.
What it is building
Changelogs, release notes, public documentation and status pages, which move well before a press release does.
What it is investing in
Public job postings describe roles and teams. The role is company information; the applicant is not, and is not something we would help you collect.
Where it operates
Fetch the same page from us-east, us-west and europe and see whether the company shows different regions different things.
The line, written so it cannot be misread
The moment your collection is about identifying, contacting or profiling individuals, you are in data-protection territory and the obligations are yours. We are transport. Our terms prohibit collecting personal data in violation of applicable data-protection law, bypassing authentication or access controls, and sending unsolicited bulk messages.
There is also nothing here to send messages with. We have no email product, no sequencer and no address to send to, because we do not supply addresses. A social network that requires a login is out of scope for the same reason as a paywall: reaching it means bypassing an access control, and we will not serve that.
You bring the URLs
This is where the missing search capability actually bites. A lot of prospecting starts with a query typed into a search engine, and we cannot do that: search engines serve a JavaScript challenge to datacenter addresses and every address we have is a datacenter address.
So the discovery step is yours. Industry directories and associations you have access to, conference exhibitor lists, public registries, your own CRM, and the sitemaps of sites that list companies are all ways to build a URL set without a search engine. Once you have the list, fetching it at volume is the easy part.
What you still build
Extraction from each site's markup, matching records to the companies you already know about, deciding how often to refresh, writing into your CRM, and maintaining suppression and do-not-contact lists. All of that is your system. We answer one question per call: what did this URL return, from this region, just now.
Questions
- Do you sell email lists or contact data?
- No, and we never have. There is no database of people here to sell from. A previous version of this page claimed one; it was not true.
- Can I use this to scrape a professional social network?
- No. Those sites put their data behind a login, and our terms forbid bypassing authentication or access controls. We will not serve it.
- Do you have buyer intent data?
- No. Intent products are built from panels or ad bidstreams, and we operate neither. We have no way to tell you who is researching what.
- Is scraping a company's public website allowed?
- That depends on the site's terms, its robots.txt and the law where you and it operate, and we cannot give you legal advice. What we can tell you is that the decision is yours to make before you send the request, and that our terms hold you to it.
